Big Milestones and growing together

A bit of excitement for the end of July - We have just hit a big milestone, with over 500 communities on the platform! 🥳 This means we are interacting with more and more people every day and listening to feedback through conversations and posts. Based on this feedback, one of the high-impact features we added this month has been content moderation tools.
Context everywhere
Content moderation can be a difficult part of community management - you want people to be able to express themselves but you also want to protect your community from malicious actors. You need to build community while resolving misunderstandings and removing harmful actors when necessary.
This is why we have enabled content reporting on all content on the platform - posts, profiles, chats, comments, events, resources, and groups. With the report you can also submit a description of the issue for clarity and context. This provides clearer context to help us recognize valid reports and determine appropriate action levels. This makes our platform better for everyone.
Blocking users
When reporting isn't enough, you can now permanently remove disruptive members from your group. This ensures that problem members stay gone, protecting your community's culture and saving you from repeatedly managing the same individuals.
The blocking feature works alongside content reporting to give you complete control over your community's membership. Your members can engage confidently knowing that violations have lasting consequences, and you can focus your energy on nurturing engaged contributors rather than managing repeat offenders.
You can also use your joining question to ensure that your community is open to the right people. More guidance on crafting effective joining questions can be found in our last blog post.
Code of conduct
As an aside, it is also always worth having a Code of Conduct for your groups, to let people know from the get-go what the rules are. This helps to align everyone on what is expected when it comes to interactions and general behaviour. For example - is posting hundreds of pictures of your cat in chat a welcome message or a possible intrusion?
Your Code of Conduct becomes your community's North Star, especially when combined with robust reporting tools. When boundaries are clear and enforcement is possible, people can focus on what they came for: meaningful connection and authentic interactions.
Looking Forward: Growing Together
As we celebrate crossing 500 communities, we're reminded that our role isn't just to build features - it's to anticipate the challenges that come with success and provide solutions before they become problems. Every community deserves the tools to maintain its unique culture while scaling confidently.
As always, if there are things you would like to see on the platform or have any feedback, chat with us on our platform. Happy organising!
